I know what your thinking! How do these symbols, which remind you of Lucky Charms, have anything to do with St. Patrick's Day, or better yet, the Bible?
Balloon - This is such a great reminder of how Jesus will lift our burdens. Now, don't get me wrong, Christians aren't promised a rose garden, but we do have the Creator of all things who wants us to give him our burdens. So, we don't have to go through the trials alone. 1 Peter 5:7 " Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."
Star - Have you ever tried to count the stars? There are billions! How awesome is it that our God not only knows how many stars there are, but he has given a name to each and every one. Psalm 147:4 "He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names."
Clover - The three leaf clover is the one most often seen. It represents God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. John 14:26 "But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." This verse references all three "parts" of the Trinity. God the Father is seated in Heaven and is preparing a place for those who have received His Son as their Saviour. The Holy Ghost indwells the believer when they receive Christ as their Saviour. Jesus, the one who is speaking in this verse, came to die on the cross so that we could have everlasting life in Heaven.
Moon - This represents such a great promise to me! Psalm 30:5 b "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." With the Lord by my side, I know that I may go through the trials or the "night," but it is nothing compared to the joy that is coming to me one day when I get to see Jesus face to face in Heaven! What a joy! What a promise!
Heart - Such a simple image that relates to a word that we so often overuse - Love! Just for a moment, I want you to think of the best love you could ever receive. The most unconditional love, that no matter what you have done, you are still loved, kind of love! This is God's love. It reaches way down to those, who even though we don't deserve it, God loves us anyway. 1 John 4:10 "Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins." God loves you! He loves you so much that he sent his son to be the "propitiation" which means atonement, or payment, for our sins.
Rainbow - Are you familiar with the account of Noah's Ark? God sent a flood because of the wickedness of the world, but told Noah exactly how to build the ark so his family could be saved. After the flood, God put the rainbow in the sky as a promise to us that he would never flood the entire earth again. He provided a way for Noah and his family to be saved, just like He will provide a way for you to be saved. He sent his son to be the payment for our sins. So, why do you need Jesus? Romans 3:23 tells us that " For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Have you ever sinned? Told a lie? Took something that wasn't yours? Believe it or not, we all have sinned. This is because it is in our nature. Romans 5:12 "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into to the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon men, for that all have sinned:" This one man was Adam. Remember in the Garden of Eden where he ate of the fruit even though he was told not to. This act of disobedience brought a sin nature upon mankind that would be born. It also brought forth death, a physical death that we all will one day face, but also a spiritual death, but praise the Lord, God sent his son for us to be a payment for sin debt. See, even though we didn't do anything to be a sinner - there is still a price to pay for our sin. Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." God loved us so much that he sent his Son to be that payment for our sin, and then to accept this gift of Eternal life we only need to believe on Him, which is to accept his free gift of salvation. Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Now, just image, you got a call from the radio station, and they said that you have WON FREE TICKETS to a concert. How awesome would that be? Now let's say you go to the concert, but you never picked up your tickets!! Would they let you in? NO! Why? Because you never picked up your free gift. You may believe that there is a God, but you have never accepted Christ as your Saviour. If you want your free gift of salvation, then just like these free tickets, you have to accept this gift by what Romans 10:9-10 says, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto righteousness."
